Beefcuts

This body of work is an eclectic cocktail Matisse (cut-outs) versus meat (beef cuts).

Fascinated by the cut-outs of Matisse, this project took its visual form.  Virtually I used pink coloured sheets and photographs and arranged them into compositions.  In contrast to the curving physical forms of the female bodies I added the strong blocks with beef cut charts, hence influencing the interpretation.

The pink colours obviously emphasize the beef cuts.  I think it is clear that this work raises questions concerning the meat industry.  Activist offer themselves as human meat.  What is the environmental impact of meat production?  Is meat murder?  Have you ever thought about the expression ‘treated like a piece of meat’?  Woman are often not viewed as individuals but simply as a collection of body parts.
