Family snapshots

The objective nature of photography has come under increasing pressure in recent decades. The rise of digital editing programs has meant that contemporary artists have more options to compose a wider range of images. The “Family snapshots” series shows a sequence of photographs in which the snapshots were transformed into surreal, psychedelic compositions. The strong one-colored shapes take a daring and pronounced initiative in the picture.  They become the central creative aspect in the photographs.  The visual building blocks have a significant compositional role and focus our attention on some parts of the image, hence influencing the viewing direction and interpretation. The juxtaposition of colors and shapes is used to create contrast and intended to evoke meaning.  At the same time every picture of this work could still be defined as a representation of one’s individual journey.
