The rise of mass media had a major impact on the artistic practice of many modern and contemporary artists. Some important questions are as follows: What are the image’s fundamentals? What effects do image have on people? How can the context of an image be manipulated? The "Match - Rewriting history" series examines a sequence of formal properties linked to the medium of photography such as light, repetition and blurring. Old articles from the French-language magazine MATCH (1938-1940) served as the basis for experimenting with those medium-specific properties. During the creation process the published photo was confronted with its edited version. Both images form one mysterious identity that also brings a temporal stratification into the work.
